Rapid growth in the 'blogosphere' has empowered travellers to both access 'word of mouth'
recommendations from many sources and to post their own product/destination reviews. Industry
and destination marketing agencies have an imperative to understand what is being said about them
by consumers, and to develop strategies to manage the impacts of online peer to peer communication.
The first annual travel and tourism blogs conference aims to bring together experts on travel blogs -
analysing their content, understanding the process of information exchange, and industry strategies for engaging
with these virtual communities.
Papers are invited from academics and practitioners in any of these areas. Papers should address either
technological issues like information extraction and computer linguistic aspects of travel blogs as well as the
touristic aspects, esp. the eMarketing side.
Papers should be in English and between 4000 and 7000 words in length.
Papers should contain unpublished research. Following the conference, a selection of papers will be peer reviewed
for inclusion in a special issue of the Journal of Vacation Marketing.
Participation in the conference is on an invitation basis and will depend on the quality and the
relevance of the paper for the tourism industry.
Deadline for paper submissions: April, 20th 2007.
Notification of acceptance: May, 10th, 2007.
Format of submissions:
12pt times new roman, single line spacing, 2.5cm margins on all sides, harvard (author, date) referencing.
Paper submissions are accepted only in electronic form. Please send your papers to:
