The 7th International Travel and Tourism: Policy, Law and Management Conference
Paramount Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh
12th - 14th September 2007
The
Travel Industry has had another turbulent year. From a legal
perspective the big issue remains: What is a Package? and the Court of
Appeal decision has confused many in the industry who were looking for
clarity and guidance. Insolvency and insolvency protection is a
perennial issue which has also come to a head recently with proposals
from the CAA on a new financial protection scheme to underpin the tried
and tested ATOL system. Another difficult issue which has again found
itself at the top of the agenda is the question of corporate
manslaughter and the extent of a tour operator’s criminal liability for
deaths abroad.
All these topics are of vital importance to the travel industry, to
policy makers and to travel lawyers and will be discussed at length in
this, the seventh conference in the series hosted jointly by
Northumbria University and Nova Southeastern University. As usual our
prestigious panel of speakers has been given time to debate the topics
at length. The purpose is to provide delegates not only with an
in-depth approach to the issues but also for them to be able to enter
into a dialogue with speakers. Additionally the social programme, the
lunches and the conference dinner will give delegates the chance to
converse with each other and mingle with the speakers in a more relaxed
environment.
