For some time the STCRC has indicated that a critical research issue
for Australian tourism is how the industry will be affected by climate
change, how it can adapt and respond within current social
institutions, and how the physical, social, and economic structures
that support tourism will be shaped. As a result, the Tourism Climate Change Task Force and the Sustainable Tourism CRC have proposed a new landmark project. The Impact of Climate Change on Australian Tourism Destinations - developing adaptation and response strategies, is the title of a research brief issued by the Sustainable Tourism CRC this month.
The purpose of the project is to increase understanding of climate
change impacts on regional tourism and to inform and prioritise
adaptation strategies, with five regional case studies involved.
Researchers from the Sustainable Tourism CRC's partner universities are
being called upon to express interest in researching this topic, one of
three innovative new projects. Click here to view STCRC's climate change research brief.
