Human Dimensions in the Circumpolar Arctic

In October 8-10 2008 the conference Human Dimensions in the Circumpolar Arctic: An Interdisciplinary Conference under the Auspices of the International Polar Year will take place at Umeċ University, Sweden. The conference will pay particular attention to human life and conditions in the circumpolar Arctic in the past, present and future. Hence, tourism related papers are warmly welcomed!

The conference will be held at Umeċ University campus. Founded in 1965 as Sweden’s fifth university, Umeċ University is located in the northern part of the country with a strong commitment to regional, international and interdisciplinary research. Today the university has 29 000 students and is an important vehicle for the cultural and economic development of the Umeċ area and the entire region of northern Sweden. Umeċ is conveniently accessible by air, and the university campus is located close to the town centre with hotels and other facilities close at hand.
