Sustainable Event Management – Lessons Learnt & Prospects

In staging the EURO 2008TM, Austria put on one of the largest sporting events in its history. The country looks forward to further major events such as Linz 2009 – European Capital of Culture, 2010 Handball European Championships and 2013 Alpine Ski World Championships. The Kufstein Congress on Sports and Culture will deal with the prospects of sustainable event management. A central concern is to cultivate the dialogue between academia and practice.
Reputable researchers and representatives from the field shall elaborate on the conditions required for successfully organizing and staging larger events as well as discuss the success factors in strategic event planning.
The Congress will be hosted by the University of Applied ciences Kufstein Tyrol/Austria, an international and multi-cultural educational institution with a dynamically growing network of 145 partner universities worldwide. The symposia, presentations and entertaining social and cultural side-events will begin in Kufstein on Thursday, 14 May and run through Friday, 15 May. The sessions on Saturday, 16 May will take place in Linz, the European Capital of Culture 2009.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS We cordially invite all researchers to submit abstracts for presentations on theoretical and empirical papers. Presentations should be prepared to last no more than 20 minutes.
