ENTER 2007 WILL TAKE PLACE IN LJUBLJANA
Ljubljana in Slovenia will be the venue for ENTER 2007 which will take place from 24 to 26 January 2007!
The capital of Slovenia is a dynamic Central European city, set in a broad basin between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, it has a population of 276.000. From its very beginnings Ljubljana’s culture and lifestyle has been attuned to contemporary currents in Europe, while both the Central European and the Mediterranean spirit have influenced its culture.
A remarkable scientific potential generated by the Ljubljana University together with many renowned research and scientific institutes, the opening of Slovenian economy into the world as well as the stable political, economic and social situation of the country represent strong assets when stressing the qualities of Ljubljana as a meetings destination.
ENTER 2007 is the 14th annual conference organised by IFITT, the International Federation for IT & Travel and Tourism. This dynamic forum brings together leading industry practitioners, researchers, destination managers, consultants and a host of participants with an interest in this rapidly changing world of new and emerging technologies and business solutions.
The host for ENTER is the delightful capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana - a destination which truly reflects the theme of this year’s conference - “Connecting Destinations” - it is most definitely a connected destination in every sense of the word – not least in its approach to technology and tourism. The high-tech conference venue, easily accessible for international participants, is centred in this rich cultural capital that combines tradition and modern technologies.
The mission of IFITT is to bring all stakeholders in this domain together to share knowledge and cross-fertilise ideas. This means you will not only hear the latest research which will influence our business models but you will hear about brand new business models in action. Our research ‘engine room’ is internationally recognised as having driven much of the industry we see today.
New for this year is a three day eDestinations Summit which will form a major dedicated track and which will focus on the needs of Destination Management and will showcase leading solutions both mainstream and new. This will be an outstanding opportunity to see the latest approaches to Destination issues and to have access to leading figures from research and industry. This track is chaired by Marco Truffelli, Chief Executive of Visitscotland.com.
Complementing the eDestinations Summit will be our Industry and Innovations Track chaired by one of our most experienced ENTER participants, Graham McKenzie, Director, Travelmole. Graham and his team will be putting together a schedule of exciting new technologies and solutions beginning to make impacts across the industry.
Part of the programme this year will be specifically structured around proposals for ‘hot topics’ coming directly from the industry so if you have a burning issue that you would like to explore just let us know at

Of course central to the ENTER conference, as always is the leading edge research which drives our industry and once again in Ljubljana we shall have the foremost researchers in the field presenting their work The research track this year is chaired by Marianna Sigala who will be delivering an innovative structure to the track.
This is also a very social conference and we believe strongly in the power of the network so here too you will find our connectivity theme – the social programme will offer participants a very attractive range of ways of making and renewing contacts. Discover tomorrow’s travel and tourism world, it is being shaped here!
