 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

PERSPECTIVES OF SEASIDE TOURISM:
CHALLENGES FOR SCIENCE AND BUSINESS

MAY 7-8 2009, KLAIPEDA, LITHUANIA

SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS:
LITHUANIAN RECREATION AND TOURISM EDUCOLOGISTS ASSOCIATION,
KLAIPEDA MUNICIPALITY,
KURSIU NERIJA NATIONAL PARK

CONFERENCE THEMATIC LINES:

  • Tourism in the sea cities
  • Seaside resorts
  • Sustainable tourism in coastal territories
  • Water tourism and infrastructure
  • Seaside tourism management and administration
  • Seaside rural tourism
  • Cruise tourism

The conference will address a broad range of ambivalent issues: the declining attraction of seaside resorts and seaside tourism sustainability; the rapidly changing preferences of the seaside tourism and related problems of professional training; interaction of seaside and hinterland tourism and networking of tourism institutions, to mention few. The participants are expected to present and discuss research results and practical issues leading to building a common platform for science and business.

On the second day of the conference presentations, oral sessions and discussion will be moved from an academic environment to a business setting – the conference will continue on a boat cruising the Curonian lagoon.

We believe that Klaipeda with its historical and contemporary role as a Baltic Sea port edged with the seaside resort Palanga and the UNESCO World heritage site Curonian Spit, is the relevant place for the Seaside Tourism 2009 Conference, and we are looking forward to welcoming you there in May 2009.
