ATLAS Annual Conference 2010 - "Mass Tourism VS Niche Tourism"

The ATLAS Annual Conference 2010 will take place in the city of Limassol, Cyprus, from 3 to 5 November 2010. Please note that due to many requests the scientific committee has decided to further extent the deadline until the 14th of June 2010.

The conference is organised by the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Cyprus University of Technology and ATLAS, and is supported by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, Cyprus Airways, the Local Authority of Agios Tychonas, PrimeTel Telecommunications and the Limassol Cooperative Savings Bank.

The organizing committee of the conference has made tremendous efforts to put together an excellent conference package and thus offer to all conference delegates an unforgettable and memorable experience. The conference package includes at no extra charge the following:

  1. All meals throughout the duration of the conference (see Updated Call for papers ATLAS 31-5-2010.pdf for more details)
  2. Conference Dinner
  3. Cyprus theme night with traditional meze (see ATLAS 2010 Cyprus theme night.pdf)
  4. Transportation from and to the airport
  5. Transportation to and from the conference venue
  6. Excursion to the archeological sites at the city of Limassol with free entrance (see ATLAS 2010 half day excursion.pdf)
  7. Conference delegate bag (including a gift)

Keynote addresses will be delivered by the following scholars:

Prof. John Tribe, University of Surrey, United Kingdom

Prof. Chris Ryan, The University of Waikato, New Zealand

Prof. Abraham Pizam, Central Florida University, United States of America

Dr. Jim Butcher, Canterbury Christ Church University, United Kingdom

Dr. Stroma Cole, University West of England, United Kingdom

Prof. Michael Hall, University of Canterbury, New Zealand

Papers presented at the conference can be submitted to ATLAS with a view to international publication. The organisers aim to establish three channels of publication from the event:

-        A special issue of an international academic journal (we are already negotiating with editors)

-        An edited book with a major publisher in the field of tourism and leisure studies

-        A series of 3-5 thematic volumes published by ATLAS

ATLAS 2010 - PhD Colloquium* (a satellite event of ATLAS 2010)

* The PhD Colloquium will be co-located with the ATLAS 2010 conference and will take place on the 2nd of November 2010. It  is intended for students who have already settled on a specific research proposal and have some preliminary results, but still have enough time remaining before submitting their dissertation so that they can benefit from workshop feedback. The colloquium will consist of discussions, presentations and shared activities and students will be joined by scholars in the area of tourism, leisure and hospitality.
