CALL FOR PAPERS

 Objective

The Tourism Education Futures Institute (TEFI) is a community of tourism educators, in partnership with the tourism industry and other stakeholders, seeking to provide leadership and responsible stewardship through new paradigms of values-based education. This World Congress will be an opportunity for all involved in the tourism education process from around the world (educators, administrators at all levels, industry, students and governments) to come together to learn about the initiative and to design strategy for its implementation at a global scale.

 

Themes

The congress organizers invite papers which address theory, contemporary issues, applications and case studies in the field of tourism education at the university level. The following themes offer some initial guidance:

·         A framework for tourism and hospitality education programs

·         Ethics, sustainability and responsibility in tourism education   

·         Values-based principles in tourism and hospitality education

·         Innovative approaches for integrating values into tourism education

·         Futures studies in tourism higher education

·         Future of tourism as an academic field of study

·         Role of technology in tourism education

·         Effective strategies for distance education in tourism

·         Codes of Conduct: including Faculty Codes of Ethics and Students Oaths

·         Tourism faculty development  

·         Pilot programs/Community experiences worldwide

·         Existing and emerging challenges for tourism and hospitality education


 

Submission

Full papers, presentation of works in progress and posters are invited which support the congress aim and within the congress themes.  The deadlines for submission are:

·         Deadline for submission of abstract                        January 25, 2011

·         Confirmation of paper acceptance              February 15, 2011

·         Submission of full paper                               April 15, 2011

An extended 1,000 word abstract should be submitted for peer review to:

Guidelines for Authors

All abstracts should contain at least the following information:

·         Full title and name(s) and affiliations of all author(s) – full address, e-mail and telephone of the author(s) for all future correspondence.

·         Up to six keywords

·         Extended abstract should include introduction, methods and materials, research and results, discussion and literature cited.

·         All submissions must be double spaced throughout, times new roman 12-point font (except for title which should be 14-point font),  2.5 cm margins on all sides.

·         Illustrations and tables must be on separate sheets, following the text and references.

Submission of full paper is optional. If submitted, best papers would be recommended for publishing in the Journal of Teaching in Travel & Tourism. The final paper should be between 4,000 to 5,000 words (including references).
