Call for Papers

Deadline for Extended Abstracts: February 9, 2015

The KAHTEA conference committee welcomes academics, industry professionals, government agencies, and graduate and undergraduate students who would like to share their knowledge, business know-how, and valuable experiences. Conference attendees will share their expertise through completed research, research in-progress, case studies, and/or open discussion in stand-up presentation, poster presentation, or symposium format.

Keynote speakers (To be announced shortly)

We will have 4 fantastic keynote speakers, including world-class scholars, a Korea tourism policy-maker from Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), and a famous hospitality entrepreneur. They will discuss entrepreneurship, business analytics in hospitality & tourism, and Korea national tourism strategies. Details will be announced shortly.

Best Paper Awards

Four best papers will be selected and awarded by the award committee based on the topic relevance and contribution of research to existing knowledge (30 points), sound methodology and statistical analysis (30 points), structure and clarity of writing (20 points), and conclusions and implication (20 points).

- The first-place winner in research stand-up presentations: a plaque + US $500

- The second-place winner in research stand-up presentations: a plaque + US $300

- The first-place winner in undergraduate presentations (USRF): a plaque + US $300

- The second-place winner in undergraduate presentations (USRF): a plaque + US $100


We invite presentations in the following formats:

1. Refereed research presentations

Either stand-up or poster presentation is welcome. Extended abstracts will go through a double-blind review process. Research presentations should be based on either theoretical or empirical studies that demonstrate sound research question, research methodology, and implications. Stand-up presentations should be 25 minutes long plus 5 minute question & answer.

Topics are welcome in any of (but not limited to) the following areas :

  • Convention and Meeting Management
  • Cross-cultural studies
  • Cultural dimensions of services
  • Branding
  • Emerging issues in education and training

2. Undergraduate Student Research Forum (USRF)

Undergraduate Student Research Forum (USRF) is designed to provide undergraduate students opportunities to present their research proposals and/or case study (only stand-up presentation). Extended abstracts will go through a double-blind review process. Presentations should be 20-30 minutes long. Faculty advisor must be a member of the KAHTEA.

Extended Abstracts Submission Guideline (both refereed research presentation and USRF)

English is an official language. Abstracts will be accepted in English only.

Extended abstracts should be submitted in MS Word or RTF (Rich Text Format) (Times New Roman Font, size 12, and double spaced), and should not exceed 2,000 words (not including references and tables).

Note that extended abstracts will be reviewed only for Best Papers Awards selection and will be NOT included in the conference proceedings. The conference proceedings include only one-page final abstracts, and will be distributed at the conference in CD-ROMs.

- Notification of acceptance: Monday, March 9, 2015

- Registration: MondayMarch 30, 2015 . At least one of the accepted paper authors should register the conference by this date.

- One-page (single spaced) final abstracts: Monday, March 30, 2015  (by 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time, USA)
