Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service is the only institute in Uzbekistan preparing students in the field of services (trade, finance & TOURISM). The aim of institute is training high-qualified specialists in the the field of services, especially tourism services.

Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service has three faculties (“Economics and Management”, “Service and Tourism” and “Finances and Bank Services”). The Institute offers 13 Bachelor programmes, 8 Master programmes and 4 paths of post-graduate courses.

The teaching staff of the Institute includes 184 teachers and professors, one of them is a member of Academy, 14 are Doctors of Sciences, 86 are PhDs, and 4 are members of International Academia of Informatization. The total number of students is 1976.


The Faculty of Services & Tourism of the Samarkand Institute of Economics & Services is seeking international cooperation and collboration in the following fields:

  • Organizing international practice seminars and summer school for international and local students. Students will be able to combine theoretical knowledge with practice (on jointly organized programs), and to participate in trainings and competitions that are conducted by international and local specialists in the field of tourism and services, with the subsequent issuance of the certificate.
  • Student & staff excahnge programs under the umbrella of ERASMUS+ (EU Higher Education Program)
  • Participation in the annual International Youth Tourist Festival “ Samarkand – the Pearl of East”, which takes place in the suburban eco-complex Mirankul, where you can learn the culture and traditions of Uzbek people, our nature and, of course, taste the flavor and charm of our products and fruits.
To support the travel needs of international students and staff the institute has founded the travel company “SamISI Sayyoh Plus”, which can arrange tours to the cities of Uzbekistan and other additional services.

Samarkand Institute of economics and services was founded in 1931 in Tashkent as "Central Asian Institute of Planning".

In april, 1935, given institute was transferred to the State plan committee of Uzbekistan, and was named "Uzbekistan's Planning Institute" and in August, 1935, it moved from Tashkent to Samarkand.


In 1936 Uzbekistan's Planning Institute joined to State Trade and Cooperative Institute and became Uzbekistan's National Economic Institute.

On the 10 of June, 1949, it was titled as "Samarkand Soviet Trade Institute" .

By the order of former Soviet of Ministers on November 30, 1960 this Institute was removed to Centrosoyuz and was called "Samarkand Cooperative Institute".

Beginning from 1998 year according to order number 123 from the 24 of May, 1998, Samarkand Cooperative Institute was transferred to the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

On the 26 of March 2004 according to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan number 144 the given Institute was changed into the Samarkand Institute of economics and service.

There are four directions for post-graduate courses in the institute

Samarkand institute of economics and service has a special Soviet K.067.12.01 on getting scientific degree of candidates of sciences in 08.00.04 - microeconomy and 08.00.05 - management.
Institute has Liceum-internat , Liceum, Republican Business school, International Management Training Center.
They also have Retraining and Refreshmint knowledge courses where different heads of stuff and specialists, professionals can refresh their knowledge.
