This synthesis report summarises the findings of the Global Natural Disaster Risk Hotspots projects global disaster risk assessment, as well as drawing on a set of more localised or hazard-specific case studies. The report assesses the global risks of mortality and economic losses for six major natural hazards: earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, floods, drought, and cyclones. Risk levels are estimated by combining hazard exposure with historical vulnerability with population and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per unit
